Apple has released an update on Wednesday for OS X, which removes the Java plugin from all Mac-compatible browsers installed on the operating system.

The update blocks Java from running in the browser. Java is generally used by almost all web browsers to allow web developers to provide features and applications. Of course, the latest OS X 'security' update is only needed if you have already installed Java.

Apple has stopped offering Java with OS X for some time now but still, users could manually install it when they needed it. Later Apple released a new update that turned Java off in the browser when users haven?t used it for a while.

Java has been accused for malware attacks, such as the Flashback Trojan that infected an estimated 600,000 Macs back in April.
