The MEDIAS TAB UL N-08D, world's lightest tablet will be
released in Japan by NTT Docomo and NEC will be sold in
Japan from September 20.
The tablet has a 7-inch WXGA (1280 x 800) TFT-LCD display
and weighs just 249g. Available by NTT DoCoMo Inc. for
about 15,000 yen ($192,) it is made using carbon fiber,
making it about 70 percent of the weight of other tablet
computers of the same category such as the 7.7-inch Galaxy
Tab Plus. The MEDIAS TAB UL N-08D has a 7.9mm-thin body and
comes with a 1.5GHz dual core CPU (MSM8960,) an 8 megapixel
rear camera along with a 2 megapixel front camera. It is
powered by a 3100mAh battery, has microSD and
microSDHC (32GB) slots and WiFi connectivity.
The Android-based (Android 4.0) new Medias Tab also
includes technology that vibrates the machine in rhythm to
videos and music shown on the display, allowing users to
feel in their hands what is going on in their screen.
Below is a comparison of the NEC MEDIAS TAB UL N-08D with
the Galaxy Tab 7.7 PLus (SC-01E) tablet, also coming in
October by NTT Docomo.
