Message Text: Panasonic announced the introduction of two new 3D compatible DIGA Blu-ray Disc recorder line-ups as well as five new BD players in the U.K.

The company also announced the introduction of five new FULL HD 3D Blu-ray Disc home cinema systems.

Full HD 3D Blu-ray Disc Recorders for Freeview+HD

Panasonic will introduce two new 3D compatible DIGA Blu-ray Disc recorder line-ups. The DMR-BWT800 and BWT700 for Freeview+HD will be debuting in the U.K. market. Both Blu-ray Disc?Recorder line-ups feature twin HD terrestrial tuners, which enable recording of digital broadcasts in full-HD quality. Besides their ability to record two digital broadcasts at the same time, the twin HD tuners also allow users without a digital TV to watch a digital broadcast and record it simultaneously. 5.1-channel surround sound (Dolby Digital or Dolby Digital Plus) signal and subtitles that are included in digital broadcasts can also be recorded, allowing users to enjoy surround sound and subtitles during playback. The DMR-BWT800 and BWT700 can convert 2D Blu-ray Disc or 2D DVD into 3D images, as well as convert a normal 2D digital broadcast TV program into 3D in combination with a 3D TV and 3D glasses.

The DMR-BWT800/BWT700 also records onto a dual-layer Blu-ray Disc, and comes with an SD memory card slot, making it easy to view motion (AVCHD format) and still images captured with an HD camcorder or digital still camera. All models also feature an HD Archiving function that makes it possible to save Full-HD images from an SD memory card onto the built-in hard disk drive and a Blu-ray Disc. Also, in addition to a High Speed Copying function, a DR File Conversion function makes it possible to convert TV programmes recorded in DR mode on HDD into HG, HX, HE, HL or HM mode (High Definition). This shortens the time required to archive recorded programmes in HDD onto BD-RE or BD-R.

Image-enhancing features include the Adaptive Chroma Processor for Blu-ray Disc content. The combination of the Blu-ray Disc software encoding technology cultivated by the Panasonic Hollywood Laboratory (PHL) and the decoding technology accumulated by Panasonic has led to the development of the "PHL Chroma Processor Plus," a high quality image technology for faithfully reproducing film content.

The DMR-BWT800/BWT700 are equipped with DLNA server functionality. By connecting to LAN and with compatible DLNA client device, the recorded programmes, AVCHD and JPEG files archived on DIGA?s hard disc drive can be enjoyed in a separate room. Also by connecting the DMR-BWT800/BWT700 to the Internet, VIERA CAST lets the user communicate in Skype, enjoy Video on Demand on Acetrax, view videos on YouTube, Web-based photos on Picasa, stock information on Bloomberg, as well as the weather forecast. BD-Live also allows Blu-ray Disc bonus content to be downloaded and Internet games to be played.

The DMR-BWT800 and BWT700 also incorporates Wireless LAN system so that users can enjoy using IP services like "Skype". The DMR-BWT800/BWT700 also incorporates DLNA function, so they make it possible for users to play and watch TV programs recorded in BWT800/BWT700, even they are in the other room, with combining using Panasonic BD players that corresponds to DLNA. The SD Card slot adapts to AVCHD which allows for users to view images filmed by the 3D camcorder, as well as MPO files which allow users to view images from 3D cameras, in addition to adapting to a regular videos or pictures images data. It makes it possible for users to move and save data in SD card into HDD, and to archive the saved data in HDD to Blu-ray.

New Blu-ray Disc Players with Skype Functionality

Panasonic's new 2011 models are even easier to operate and come with a wide range of handy functions, such as the quick starting and high speed playback of Blu-ray Discs, an easy to use on screen control menu, and a Touch-Free Sensor that opens and closes the disc tray without the press of a button. The new five new players now also include Skype functionality. By using a separately purchased communication camera, users can communicate visually with faraway family and friends.

One of the newest features available in the DMP-BDT310, DMP-BDT210, DMP-BDT110, DMP-BDT111 is the Skype functionality. Skype lets users enjoy real-time visual communication on a large screen with faraway family and friends by displaying their images on the TV. The Blu-ray Disc players also feature a convenient and unique Auto Answering Video Message function.

Six New Home Theater Systems

Panasonic also today announced the introduction of five new FULL HD 3D Blu-ray Disc home cinema systems, which employ advanced technologies to reproduce cinema-like surround sound and 3D images. The new models also boast 2D-3D Conversion, Wireless LAN capability, Universal Dock for iPod/iPhone and Skype compatibility.

The new 5.1ch models, SC-BTT775, SC-BTT770, SC-BTT370, and SC-BTT270 deliver advanced sound quality that complements the dynamic 3D images. Panasonic?s proprietary technology, called Cinema Surround Plus, compensates for the lack of a surround effect to provide surround sound and offers an enhanced surround effect from above and around thanks to the virtual speakers arranged not only in the horizontal direction but also in the vertical direction.

Equipped with Panasonic's FULL HD 3D Playback, the new systems not only deliver 3D images but allow the users to tailor the image display as desired. 2D-3D Conversion makes it possible to convert images from DVD and Blu-ray discs into 3D.

The SC-BTT775, SC-BTT770, SC-BTT370 and SC-BTT362 include a down-firing subwoofer, which achieves powerful bass by releasing the sound downward from the speaker unit and port and utilising the sound reflected from the floor.

The top four models feature Skype function, which allows the users to connect with friends and family around the world on any compatible TV.

These models are equipped with two HDMI inputs in addition to one HDMI output for gaming console and set-top box connections. Since the HDMI inputs feature a Standby Pass Through function, signals from the connected devices can pass through the unit even when the home cinema system is turned off.

All of the new systems feature a integrated Universal Dock for iPod/iPhone. This lets the users play music and video downloads and enjoy high quality sound from an iPod/iPhone. The universal dock also adopts a digital connection for music source to minimise sound degradation.

The new models boast improved features, such as an internal wireless LAN capability so IP content, such as VIERA CAST and BD-Live, can be enjoyed without having a LAN cable connection.
