Message Text: YouTube has upgraded its mobile website to make it more appealing to watch videos on touch-screen devices. In addition, it unveiled YouTube Leanback which provides a large screen viewing experience on a computer and will also be integrated into the upcoming Google TV.

Youtube launched YouTube on mobile devices in 2007 with about 1,000 videos available on the mobile site (m.youtube.com). Today Google-owned Youtube is rolling out an updated version of the mobile site, which is faster, has an imptoved user interface with larger, more touch-friendly elements, incorporates the features and functionality you?ve come to expect from the .com site, like search query suggestions, the options to create playlists, the ability to designate "favorite," "like" or "unlike" videos directly from your device.

You can access the latest YouTube mobile site from your iPhone or Android browser.

YouTube says that the mobile website encounters some bugs on the hot-selling iPhone 4 phone. Those issues are expected to be resolved within the next few weeks. Apple sells the iPhone 4 with a YouTube application already installed on it.

As it stands now, YouTube says it's showing more than 100 million videos per day on mobile devices.

Youtube Leanback

YouTube also unveiled a new feature on Wednesday called YouTube Leanback which provides a large screen viewing experience on a computer and will also be integrated into the upcoming Google TV.

Just as its name implies, YouTube Leanback is all about letting users sit back, relax and be entertained. Videos tailored to their interests play as soon as they visit the site and they play in full screen and high definition, continuously. There?s no need to click, search, or browse, unless you want to, of course.

The new site (www.youtube.com/leanback) offers a selection of videos based on user's "feeds". This feed is based on users' YouTube settings and preferences, including content from their subscriptions and videos their friends are sharing on Facebook. As soon as a users signs in, the videos are starting playing immediately in full screen. Users can also watch the most popular comedy, entertainment, news, or more. Using the right arrow key on the keyboard skips ahead to the next video while the up/down arrows allows users to search, access player controls, and browse channels and videos.

YouTube Leanback is currently in beta.
