China's Price Regulator Probing Qualcomm

Qualcomm reported that China's National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) has commenced an investigation of Qualcomm relating to the Chinese Anti-Monopoly Law (AML).

The NDRC has advised that the substance of the investigation is confidential, Qualcomm said.

Qualcomm said it was not aware of any charge by the NDRC that Qualcomm has violated the AML. The company added it would continue to cooperate with the NDRC throughout its investigation.

The NDRC is China's top economic planning body and regulates prices.

Qualcomm gets revenue from chip sales and collects license fees from wireless providers for the shipment of most Internet-capable phones.

China Mobile, the world?s largest wireless carrier is also expected to pay Qualcomm licensing fees next year when the company shift to LTE networks.
