Sony Introduces Full HD Video Camera That Records LPCM Audio


Sony's new HDR-MV1 "Music Video Recorder" portable video camera focuses on audio recording in the uncompressed linear PCM format.

Available n Japan next month for about 30,000 yen ($307), the full HD (1920x1080/30p) compliant video camera is able to record audio in uncompressed linear PCM or AAC. The camera uses a 120-degree X-Y stereo microphone built-in optimized to record live performances in high fidelity.

The camera also packs Sony's 1/2.3 Exmor R CMOS image sensor with 16.8 million pixels (8.4 million pixels effective), F2.8 Carl Zeiss "Tessar" lens, Wi-Fi and NFC connectivity. It supports Memory Stick Micro, microSD/SDHC/SDXC storage options. A 2.7-inch LCD display (230K pixels) is placed on the side of the camera's body.
