Asus To Release Intel-based Phablet At MWC

The highly rumored 7-inch Android 4.1 Asus Fonepad will be the first Intel-based 'phablet' and is expected to debut at the Mobile World Conference later this month.

According to reports and leaked photos, the Fonepad has an aluminum body and an Intel badge on the back. It is expected at a price range competitive to the Nexus 7 but probably below the MeMO Pad, which Asus launched Friday in Asia.

Possible spesigications include an Intel Atom Z242 processor with Imagination PowerVR SGX540 graphics, a 1,280x800 IPS touch screen, 1GB of RAM, storage ranging up to 32GB, a front-facing 1.2-megapixel camera, 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS support.
