Sony at CEATEC 2012

Sony's new product line-ups will be on display at CEATEC JAPAN 2012 (October 2-6), to be held at Makuhari Messe International Convention Complex in Chiba City.

The Sony booth will center around the cross-device connectivity it offers across its array of mobile products such as Xperia smartphones, new Xperia Tablet and VAIO PCs; its camera lineup incorporating Sony-developed, full-frame 35mm CMOS images sensors; and its 84-inch BRAVIA 4K TV. In addition, Sony will present new ways of enjoying content by combining its mobile products, Blu-ray Disc recorders, and "nasne," networked recorder and media storage device.

Centering on mobile products such as Xperia smartphones, Xperia Tablet and VAIO PCs, Sony will deliver new user experiences by connecting and combining Sony's range of hardware, network services and applications. One of the key examples of this is Sony's One-touch function which enables users to easily enjoy their music across an array of NFC (Near Field Communication) enabled devices by simply touching one device to the other without the need for Bluetooth set-up. Sony is also offering new ways to capture digital pictures through the combination of Xperia smartphones, Xperia Tablet and Sony's digital camera products, by allowing the user to check the image, adjust camera exposure and control their camera shutter wirelessly from their smartphone. Furthermore, Sony will exhibit examples of cross-device connectivity between Xperia Tablet, Blu-ray Disc recorders, and nasne, enabling consumers to enjoy recorded or live TV content on their Xperia Tablet through a home network, or transfer recorded content onto the Xperia Tablet for viewing on the go.

Sony's new 84-inch BRAVIA 4K TV (KD-84X9000) delivers a high-resolution picture on its large screen by incorporating Sony's '4K X-Reality PRO,' super-resolution engine. With the side speaker system also producing powerful sound optimized for the large screen, this new BRAVIA brings an immersive new viewing experience to the home.

Sony's new VAIO line-up incorporates Windows 8 to combine touch operation with high performance. The Surf-Slider design, VAIO Duo 11 hybrid PC can be used as a Tablet, while also enabling detailed input with its digitizer stylus. VAIO Tap 20 is a tabletop PC which can be tilted between desktop and "lay-flat" form factors.

The Duo 11 slider PC is expected to go for about ¥150,000 ($1,930) when it launches in Japan on October 26th, and it'll come with a 1080p display, 1.7GHz Core i5-3317U, 128GB SSD, 4GB RAM and WiMAX.
Sony Tap 20 portable all-in-one will come in three models, which will range from about ¥140,000 ($1,800) up to about ¥180,000 ($2,310) come November 3rd. The main differences being the CPU (1.8GHz Core i3-3217U, 1.7GHz Core i5-3317U or 1.9GHz Core i7-3517U) and the RAM (4GB or 8GB), but all three will feature the same 20-inch 1,600 x 900 display and 1TB hard drive.
