ICANN Resumes Bids For New Internet Addresses

ICANN's system that registers applications for new internet name suffixes has been reopened after a temporary software glitch.

The system will remain open until 23:59 GMT/UTC on 30 May 2012, the The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers or ICANN said.

The system had been shut down since April 12 because of a software glitch that exposed some private data. During the last few weeks, ICANN said it had been working to fix the technical glitch, improve the overall system performance and the HTML preview function.

Each application costs $185,000.
