Sony Licenses Rovi's Online Content Delivery Services Technology

Sony has licensed Rovi's interactive program guide (IPG) patent portfolio, which includes online content delivery services.

Rovi IPG patent portfolio and related products, including Rovi entertainment data that provides show descriptions, editorial reviews, and multimedia content covering TV shows and movies, enable users to easily find or discover entertainment regardless of the source. Serving as a complement to these capabilities, the Rovi Advertising Network connects device makers to a range of brands that wish to reach and engage users on their platforms.

"We are pleased that the relevance of our entertainment related products and intellectual property continue to be recognized by industry leaders such as Sony," said Matt Milne, EVP, worldwide sales and marketing, Rovi. "In use to enable a variety of advanced consumer experiences on multiple screens, our IP and product portfolio is helping our customers drive customer satisfaction and new streams of revenue."
