Burns above were done with Plextor 716A Firmware 1j04 (Beta) at 16X on 8X media.

As you can see, it doesn't look like you can possibly get a better burn.... This Plexwriter is truly "amazing"

/me is jealous ...

it was manufactured in Japan....

The Plextor PX-716A used to be manufactured in China (which China?)
so are you talking about the adress in Japan of the Plextor company

or about what is written just below the yellow sticker with the manufacturing date ??

where the sticker of a TLA#0304 still says:
Made in China , manufactured January 2005

Yep, to make sure, pulled the drive from my case, it's definately made in Japan. Not sure it makes any difference at all either.

Quite to the contrary, I do have a slight personal preference for Plextor made in either Japan or Malaysia (my current 712) as they have been more reliable than the Chinese ones in my experiences.

MP3 looks to have really a decent drive. 1.04 firmware final for all TLA#'s should be a huge improvement to 1.03 and then we have 1.05, 31st March.
