I stupidly updated the firmware on my Liteon SOHW-1633S to BS41, and now I can't update it back to the 1633 supported firmware. The FW package says the drive isn't compatible? (S0S firmware)

Any suggests on what I should do?

Why would you say stupidly? The BS41 firmware is fantastic. However, if you want to switch back to a previous firmware, just tell me which one, send me an email at MP3Mogul@aol.com so I know your email addy and I'll email you a firmware you can flash back with.

i say stupidly because nowhere did i read beforehand that I wouldn't be able to go back to the supported FW. I don't know enough about this stuff to completely close the door on support from the manufacturer. Although, it does make me happy to hear that there's a way back.

The BS41 has been great, but ever since I made the switch from S0S, I'm unable to burn CDR's the way I used to. Now, when I burn anything CDR, I have problems finalizing the disc, have to reboot to eject the disc, and get all kinds of errors in the process. I can only attribute this to the firmware, although I'll be sure and report my results of testing the same methods with SOS.

Thanks for your reply....

I emailed you the previous version, and it will reflash your drive. All LiteOn firmware now will not let you revert back to a previous one, but thanks to codeguys, you can fix that problem easily!

For future reference, you can get your UNLOCKED firmware here:

hey, that's great!

So i see a couple of different FW v's for the 1633s - can anyone tell me the major diff's they've seen between BS41 and S0S? I'm having problems strictly with CDR's, nothing else.

Thanks and thanks again...

As I emailed you, this has to be a media issue, because my CDR's test at 100 percent with BS41 and now BS42 firmware.

it's not. at least not on my end. i've got about 7 different kinds of media here for CDR's and these failures I'm seeing are directly related to the BS41 firmware I'm using. When I'm not using it, no problems. Maybe I've got some other issue, maybe not - I'm not really concerned with it. I realize there's a LOT of folks here who can't get enough of BS41. BS41 this, BS41 that. Hey, BS42! I'll give that one a try....

I'm just reporting that I had problems with it - there's no need to get defensive.

Thanks for your help in restoring me back to SOS.

No problem at all! Could possibly be a hardware issue? I'm not sure.
