Zyxel Communications, a Taiwan-based broadband-equipment specialist, plans to expand its presence in the US market next year, according to company chairman Chu Shun-I. Zyxel unveiled a wireless firewall router for home-network use in Taiwan yesterday, the Zyxel P-334WT, which incorporates integrated Internet security software from Trend Micro.
With Zyxel’s Wireless g+ SuperSpeed Technology, the P-334WT router offers a maximum data transfer rate of 125Mbps. The router’s firewall has stateful packet inspection (SPI) capabilities built-in. In addition to Trend Micro’s security solutions, the device supports wired equivalent privacy (WEP) and Wi-Fi protected access (WPA) security standards.
The Chinese-language Commercial Times today stated that Zyxel expects to take an 8-10% share of the global home-use router market in 2005, up from 7% this year.
Zyxel saw record revenues in November of NT$1.292 billion, rising from NT$842.69 million in October, according to the Taiwan Stock Exchange (TSE).
