I'm really only interested in using them for rewritable data storage, does it matter if I use + or - RW media? Any advantages to using one or the other? Which brands are recommended or is the quality similar or the same as those manufacturers of +/-R media? i.e. TY, Verbatum, etc.

Genarally I trust more the +RW format. However Optodiscs -RW seemed to be better in CDRinfo's review. I get Traxadata and Maxell +RW.

Why do you trust the +RW format over the -RW? What manufacturer makes the discs for Optodisc?

Optodisc makes their own DVD±R/RW media

Actually, Optodisc is the only manufacturer of DVD-RWs that I am aware of that has proper Pioneer labs certification for their 4x DVD-RWs. Of course when MCC finalized THEIR 4x DVD-RWs they were *making* the standard

For re-writable i would choose DVD-RAM for safe archives, both -/+RW are not to be so trusted at my opinion
