I bought a 100 disc spindle of 32x Verbatim CD-R's and I popped one of them into my nrew 52x CD-R drive and for some strange reason it will only let me burn them on 24x. Maybe it's just my burner, or is it a compatibility issue? Anyone else run into this?

Well, that pretty much rules out the CD-Rs as the problem...

what kind of burner do you have? have you been able to burn faster then 24x before?

Your burner may be fine, it just may have issues with Verbatim. It happens I know my burner has issues with Sony CD's (I think, it's been awhile) burns them slower than most others. Another burner may love them. My understanding is that there are basically 4 major manufacturers of blank CD's that sell to 100 or so name brands. Each of these 4 major manufacturers also have various batch qualities at different price points and so on. Try a few different brands/Manufacturers with your burner to see if it makes a difference before you condem it. Also consider that 52X speed is reaching extremely high rotational speeds (Some say the border of safe limits) and as such accuracy may suffer, do you have a feature turned on somewhere thats backing down the speed for accuracy ?

Good Luck

Oh, I've only had 48x burnable media, and it burns fine. Also, I noticed on the verbatim's that I have the option of 24x but I can only burn at 16x... must be my burner. :/

Snarl: while your theory is fairly accurate, you made a fairly large mistake on the number of CD manufacturers. True, there are much fewer then the number of brands out there, but much more then 4

To name a few:

Taiyo Yuden; Mitsui; Mitsubishi Chemicals; Prodisc; Princo; Ritek; Digital Storage Technology; Daxon Technology; Finex Disc Technology; Kodak Japan; Imag Optical Storage; Lead Data; Mediastar Technology; Moser Baer India Ltd; Nan Ya Plastics Corporation; and Sky Media Manufacturing.

Believe me, that's a SMALL list

After some time I did some research about the claims of people who had problems with DATALIFE PLUS cd-r's.

Now what we see is that some 24x and 32x were problematic for some burners.
But anything could you give me the country in which these Verbatim disc's where made.
