How come when I burn CDs they won't play in some CD players, but will in others?

How can I make it so it works in ALL cd players?

Thanks

Some CD Players just can't read CD-Rs properly. It has to do with how good the laser they use is. Newer ones don't have a problem, and usually can read CD-RWs too. If a system can't read a CD-RW try a CD-R.

I'm trying to get my new car CD player to play a burned CD-R, it works in all other CD players i've tried it in.. So the problem is probably just a sh*tty car cd player and it'll never play any burned CD-Rs?

what brand/manufacturer was the CD-R you burned? perhaps it was a low quality disc.

I've tried lots of different ones..

Yamaha 74m disc
Memorex 80 minute Cd-R

Neither of those work... i've tried some others but not for sure of the brand. My burner is a 4x/4x/16x yamaha..

hrm, it may be your stereo after all then , it may be worth trying some Taiyo Yuden CD-Rs though. You can find them in the Fuji CD-Rs labelled made in Japan.

Hi BA
I suggest you upgrade your firmware to the latest version (If you have not all ready done so )and also I suggest you try and get hold of some 4x Media which are now quite hard to get hold of, I ask you to try this as some of the new Media does not like writing at 4x on the Yamaha. But the easiest way around it is to purchess a new writer as they are very cheap at the moment and you can get some right Bargains if you search around !!!
I hope this Helps !!!

it's also possible that your writer is dying ... weakening laser not making the quality burns as it should. i've got a yamaha 4416S but i haven't really used it for burning audio CDs in a long time but it still seems to be okay for data discs : ).

My Yamaha 4416S survived quite some time, about 5 years of heavy use. So it could be quite possible that your CD Burner is starting to die. It would be prudent to start looking into a new CD Burner as Laffin Assassin suggested, because media these days are not meant to be burned at such low speeds.

It seams that there might be a big difference over the sea.
Low media is supposed to be hard to get. No way.
I tell you this it is very easy here in Holland.
Okay real low speeds might be hard.
But you can still get media for 16x or lower.
Here is some media I can get easilly and some info about there speed.

These disc's are still produced
Double Diamond Digital (AOD)-650 mb - 16x rated
Mitsui Pro Studio (mitsui)- 12x MAX
Verbatim Metal Azo (Mitsubishi Chemicals)- 650 mb - 16x rated (and the older AZO disc's are very good to be burned at low speeds. In fact on most burners real low speeds 4x and lower score very good)
Hispace Gold (MPO) - 16x rated (according to the testresults.)

Keep in mind that most Gold disc's are low speed disc's. The fastest rated gold disc is still 24x.

Also my experience was that my old 3610 which is almost death could still burn on Mitsui 40x silver and this thing only burns AOD and Mitsui manufactured disc's. I was a bit suprised.
I don't know how good it is but a friend of me is going to test it on his Lite On.
So infact the 2 most succesfull for picky players should still be working okay.

If I am 100% realistic then the claim
"Working on All cd players" is impossible since some players won't like Mitsui and some won't like Mitsubishi AZO disc's and some players will allmost only work with one of these cd-r's.

by the way TY is not special for car cd players. Only incombination with a Lite On burner(or something else which is heavy optimised for TY) you might have some increasement in the succes ratio.

rjw: in Canada, and I suspect the U.S. too, it is getting hard to find anything slower then 24x, nd when you DO find it, it usually doesn't work right!

I mentioned T.Y. in case it was a high error rate problem.

I have 32x Gold CD-Rs

I'm gonna try burning one at 1x speed, i've heard that might work...

If that doesnt work, I dont know what to do...

Would AUDIO ONLY CD-rs be better?

What is firmware?
I really don't want to have to buy a new burner but if i did.. What burners would DEFINATELY work with a car cd player?

I probably won't buy a new burner though... I don't think that's the problem--the CDs play everywhere else but in my car-- and I don't have the money for it

Well you are going to have fun trying to write at 1x hardly any of the newish Media will even try to write at that speed !!!

The Firmware is like the Bios in your motherboard but it is in your Yamaha Writer and the latest version for your writer is the 1.0i and you can get it from here :-
http://www.yamaha.co.jp/english/product/computer/fw-02.html
But as you didn't know what firmware was I strongly suggest you read the instructions and follow them exacly !!!

1. Check the setting of "Auto insert notification" option
in properties of CRW4416s before installation.

2. If "Auto insert notification" is "ON", please disable it
and reboot the system.

3. Open the folder of the installer and double-click [wininst.exe]
to start the program.

Where do i find the settings?? I've never messed with the actual burners settings before.. only in EasyCd Creator...
