Which of these CDRs that I own should I use to record audio w/ my Lite-On 48125W?

Kodak Gold Ultima 74min, speed? (made 1999), gold box, made in Mexico,
CDR Indentifier says Kodak Japan Ltd.
Fuji 80min, 24x, blue package, Japan, CDR ID'r says Taiyo Yuden
Imation 80min, 16x, red package, Taiwan, CDR ID'r says CMC
Valuedisc/Khypermedia (from Office Max) 80min, 32X, green box, Taiwan
PNY 80min, 16x, orange/yellow and white box, Taiwan

I used to hear the Kodaks are good but the last one I burned wouldnt
play in a friend's factory car player.
Also what would be your second choice?
Are any of these plain junk?


Are silver CDRs, usually better than more blue/green CDRs even if the
silvers are generic and the more blue/green are from a more well known
company?

PNY don't know who makes them and I never have seen any testresults.

It still can happen that some player will not read these disc's correct.
Most car cd-players are really picky. Now the best results very from player to player. I once posted more info about this.So if you want search for that posting.

colour says nothing about quality. You can have good silver disc's (MITSUI/DOUBLE DIAMOND DIGITAL)and bad silver disc's. You can have good blue disc's (Mitsubitshi Chemicals,TY) and bad blue discs(CMC)

People actually buy audio cdr's? Jeez. I thought all the audio ones had the protection crap on them. Right?

There is no protection on a CDR. I Agree Dolphinius, the Gold are better than the Fuji's. I have used (and still use) alot of Fuji media (TY). They hold up well and are great for high speed writing.

Kodak will last longer. That is true.

But I think that the TY (fuji in this case)also has one advantage against it in this case that is. Lite On and TY are a perfect combination. So TY disc's when burned at the rated speed have a very low error rate. The error rate is lower with most TY then Kodak media burned on a Lite On.
Lower error rate can lead to a better compatibility and since we know that car players are very picky the TY disc's might be working a bit better because of this on some players.

So TY should be more compatible? I'm more interested in sound quality and compatibility, and not worried about how long it will last.

oh man. dude, the guy was talking about quality CDRs to use for audio ... not what good "audio CDRs" to use. look at the CDRs listed in the original post and none of them are "audio CDRs".

Just want to make sure, Lite-On's definately make better audio CDs with Taiyo Yuden than Kodak Gold?

SixPackMan: Yes, Taiyo Yuden CD-Rs will have better quality burns (and therefore make better audio CDs) then Kodak Gold's.

The advantage of Kodak Gold's is that they will probably out live you, and possibly 2 generations of your family or more!

But for pure writing quality, LiteON and Taiyo Yuden is almost impossible to beat!
