Yeah it would have been nice if it would burn ricohjpnr01 at 8x, but then it may have the best burn quality for TY02 8x + at 16x of any burner. NicW is testing the B7M9 firmware and it may be out by this weekend. He post over at cdfreaks in the BenQ forum.

KenW:

How long did it take to scan the whole DVD+R9? I wish DVDInfoPro had a time counter

Also, is the PIF scanning ability new with these beta firmwares? Mine didn't scan PIF error at all last I checked.

Also, at what ECC sum is the BenQ scanning?

About 18 minutes with it set to 8x cav. NicW and I have chatted about time counter and he has told me, he may add one to status window on complete of scan, there would be total time for scan listed, but he is more interested in making scans work now then adding extras.

yes BenQ added high scan to beta L and M but release L and before dont have it.

DVDinfopro scans all drives at this time, at 8ecc pie and 8ecc pif. so any pie under 280 and pif under 32 is good.

NicW has added total time for scan to status box as well as number of other bug fixes and the like, He will release the dvdinfo 3.3x not sure of version # as yet once he is sure its stable , and about the time benQ releases the new FW to the public.

so any pie under 280 and pif under 32 is good.

Thanks KenW!

Although I believe that ECC1 x 8 does not exactly equal to ECC8 scores... but if that is all that can be done, then that's the best you can do right.

All I can say is nicW told me that pi/pif is 8/8ecc he has it labeled on graph data area as 8ecc too, so if thats the case then pi under 280 and pif under 32 should be the good range. If you have an answer other then what I know please feel free to PM NicW and ask him then we can clear this up

All I'm saying is that when I use K-Probe to scan at 1ECC and then again at 8ECC, the results are quite different then if I simply multiply the 1ECC scan by 8. I don't know all the technical reasons behind this, but I would guess it has to do with how the error correction is applied.

NicW seems to think end of the week or weekend for B7M9 and his latest dvdinfopro release, hope this works out but for now here is yuden +R 8x burned at 16x on beta M fw and scanned with beta M fw.
