My computer is 3 years old and I have been using WinXP during all this time. A few weeks ago I had a similar problem but after formatting a installing from zero, everything was as smooth as ever. Until yesterday. I don't know what happened, but suddenly I was not able to access my CD drive, or my floppy drive. Since last disaster, I have separated all of my work in a different partition, so I can format and reinstall from zero in case of emergency. The problem was that the CD was not accessible at bootup either. At last, don't ask me how, it read my WinXP installation CD so I formatted and reinstalled XP on that partition. I have everything up and running again, but the CD drive is unaccessible again. This is a nightmare.

I use:
-WinXP proffesional
-Nero (the same old one I have been using these 3 years).
-Creative CDRW 4-2-2-24X (I know, it's a dinosaur, but then....I don't burn CDs for commerce...just a few copies now and then:) ).

Heeeelp me, please. I an at a dead-end. I have not used Roxio, I've uninstalled Nero, rebooted (can name how many times), ect. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.

Welcome to CDRinfo's Forum!

Your drive is indeed old. I suggest you to install system ASPI drivers. Also if it is possible set your drive on a different PC. If the problem exists maybe your drive is getting older.
