I'm editing this post a tad... I'll explain further down.

Pioneer 4x DVD-R Media w/JC -- .99$
(select Pioneer from the dropdown - I don't know how much stock he has so you'd probably better give a call before ordering).
LINK HERE

Additionally, to those interested in the RW discs, try here: HERE. Though, they are $9.50 though a pop, but this is one of the last places on earth to find 'em.

Now, onto the REAL deal... have a change of underwear ready.
Plextor Taiyo Yuden 8x (burns at 12x) DVD+R Media -- 5-PACK 3.90$
LINK HERE

Not only is this PLEXTOR brand TY, and not only is it 8x (burns at 12x), and not only is this store's avg 9.0 on resellerratings, but I called them early today and they have a few HUNDRED 5-packs in stock. I bought 50 ... how many can you buy before they are all gone? And hell, talk about a crazy price! (EDIT: And I just got the tracking # and UPS says the package is 32 friggin pounds!! So yes these are indeed 5-packs, and not a typo!!)

Finally, I have yet ANOTHER earth shattering deal... and while I can't reveal the specifics for a few days (prob 1wk), I will say four words:
Mitsui + GOLD + 1.36 + OMG

Enjoy for now guys!
Kiger - p.s. help me find 20 pioneer dvd-rw discs for under $3 each and I'll lub you long time!

kiger,

What's the TLA on your PX-712A? I got one recently and my results are nowhere near that good. I have 8x burns of 8x +R media that probably have 5~6x the amount of burns, and I mean good media like Yuden T02 and Ricoh R02.

If you happen to be in Europe, like so many of us, another source for TY 8x DVD+R (Fuji branded) is:

http://s00106246.shop.auctionweb.info/product_info.php?cPath=15&products_id=AW540829&osCsid=e19f3e10956f365725fcdaa459554736

Be aware that they do sting you on postage, but the discs are relatively ok priced.

Ordering from US to EU will totally kill you on the UPS/Fedex costs though, so it makes sense to order from EU if you are within EU.

Hmm... What's "TLA"?

Oh, and on another note. Now that I can check PI errors, I slapped in a few of my old burns on Pioneer 2x media and was SHOCKED to find the average PI errors around 100! While that's well under spec of 280, it's still a heck of a lot higher than I expected for Pioneer media!

The TLA is printed on the label on the PX-712A; it tells the hardware revision as well as what firmware the drive is running from the factory. For instance, the TLA on my PX-712A is 0102, which means it is hardware revision 01 and came installed with firmware 1.04. I think the very first ones were TLA 0000 and 0001. Also, do you know what country your drive was manufactured in?

Ahh... no I don't know. I'm too lazy to take the drive outta the pc and look heh. But, it had firmware 1.04 installed, and I upgraded to 1.05. I also bought the drive from newegg and since they don't keep a lot of stock onhand, I figure this is a fairly recent revision.

Then your TLA must be 0104; I don't think there is a revision 2 of the hardware. There seems to be a LOT of variability in PX-712A quality...

I hope that PX-716A would not have the same problems that PX-712A did
