I just upgraded my Nero 5.5.40 to version 5.5.51 and after I rebooted I couln't see my cdrom and cdrw drives. I got some error about Nero2k.sys being missing or corrupted. Anyone see this before?

Hmm, I am beggining to see this issue again. We had resolved it in Nero 5524. It's an old bug we had in a previous version. Hope it's not back. So far only 3 cases have come up. Most users still do not incounter this. But I am keeping an Eye on this. If any other users are encountering this, please let me know via this forum or directly.

As for possible solutions....

When CDROM/DVDROM are not detected anymore after Nero 5.5 installs.. ( will be resovled in the Nero 5.5.3x release)

This occurs due to an error in the installation which sometimes occur.
The problem should be away if the customer reinstalls the NeroCD2K driver:
The installation file is in the Nero\Misc folder.
There is the file NEROCD2Kinstall.inf file
Now he should rightclick the file and choose install.
After the next installation the cd-rom drives are visible and useable again.


OR

Open regedit and go to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
Now delete the keys:
LowerFilters and UpperFilters. Now reboot and your optical drives
should function again. You should then reinstall Nero.
