After doing some research and reading the reviews I decided that I will buy 108 instead of Pioneer unless anyone else tells me not to.

I'm still a die-hard fan for NEC drives

Isn't Pioneer and NEC have the same chipset so the review should be same. I am just looking for a burner which is not picky about media and burns dvd, cd's without any issues and gives me good burns.

Not a big fan of tdk

Isn't firmware makes the drive better in terms of burning quality if thats the case it might be worthwhile waiting for nec

Emperor..., hmm :) interesting. Does it mean I don't really have to wait for TDK review and can get NEC3500 knowing I'll be able to choose firmware of the best performer?
Thanks

Buy the Pioneer 108. You won't regret it. It's an excellent drive. I just bought it and I am very happy with it.
