My local Walmart are finally stocking 8X media. I have never heard of the brand name it is ilo. Price is $18.60 for a 15 pack on a spindle, so I thought I would give it a try. So far have burned 5 discs, burn time is 8:22 on my Pioneer 107 and all play perfectly on all of my home dvd players. APEX, Pioneer, Cyberhome and Panasonic. Sorry, but I don't know how to make those nice graphs showing errors that others post or I would have included one. Hope this information is of some assistance to someone.

Well, I have a special deal through my workplace. But Very soon a local computer store in my area will be selling Taiyo Yuden 8x DVD±Rs for about $1.35-$1.45 CAD per disc or so in 50pc spindles... but this doesn't help a lot of people in the U.S. or Europe.

I agree that it is possible to get discs cheaper than this, but not buying in this small a quantity and there are times when I need some discs right now and can't wait for them to be delivered. I think this is quite reasonable given the convenience of being able to pick them up locally. Walmart is literally 3 minutes from my house :) I have now burned 10 of the discs with no problems whatsoever. If someone could tell me what I need to make those graphs that show burn quality etc. I will post the results here.

That's pretty expensive. My WalMart doesn't have that 8X Media yet... they do have a Durabrand that is trash.

I suggest using the Maxell 4X -R media in WalMart, it's TY media, and it writes perfectly at 8X (did 150 DVD backups with it personally) and it's ALOT cheaper!

A local Wal-Mart here near Atlanta has some Maxell 8x +R in DVD cases, in packs of three. These discs are made in Japan by Maxell themselves, with the MAXELL002 media code. They're called Maxell DVD+R High Grade Video, and are in purple and black caes.
