I just bought 2 50-packs of MIJ FujiFilm 8x DVD-r for $40 each from BestBuy. I popped one in the drive and fired up dvdinfopro and the code was TYG02 and the complete media code was

00000000 00 6C 00 00 01 40 C1 FD 9E D8 52 00 02 87 0D 10 .l...@....R.....
00000010 66 78 80 00 03 54 59 47 30 32 00 00 04 00 00 00 fx...TYG02......
00000020 00 00 00 00 05 AA A2 22 22 20 02 00 06 08 0E 11 ......."" ......

Now with all of the counterfeiting going on these days re:TY, what are the chances that these are legit TYs? A reputable company like Fuji wouldn't pull anything shady, right?

Thanks for the replies!

FujiFilm also has their own Media code, which is Fujifilm03, which is an 8x DVD-R actually made for Fuji by Prodisc.

Don't worry about TY code discs in Fuji packaging, Fuji and TY have a LONG history together!

I've used the Fuji (TY) cdrs for years and I figured these would be the real deal, but just wanted to ask the experts :) Are the Fujifilm03 (Prodisc) Made in Japan of Taiwan?

Thanks for the welcome minos! How are the Olympic visitors treating you so far? Have you gone to/are you going to any events? Thanks for being the host!

Boa, perhaps it would be good to "edit" your profile and tell us where you live..... these are "very common" sales in the US....... all the time

I have heard that Japan's are grade A, but even Chinas are TY, meaning good.

A lot of "fake TYG02" around now - if you see TYG02 that's too cheap to be true, beware - though apparently some of it is ok, but will not overspeed like genuine TYG02.

It will burn, maybe well, maybe badly, with the TYG02 strategy.
The dye may or may not actually be TYG02.

But the media sure as hell isn't Taiyo Yuden!
