what's your best media for burning ps2?? I've tried verbatim which works fine, but would also like to try other medias.....

Well, for PS backups, I'm pretty partial to black bottomed media. I've used Ritek black CD-Rs, and CMC Black CD-Rs. Both CD-Rs have worked great...actually, the ones by CMC have been much more reliable (which is VERY rare for CMC) then the Ritek blacks. But I also know that the Ritek stock was much older then the CMC stock I had access to, so that makes a difference!

by the way, are you backing up onto DVD-Rs or CD-Rs?? since both are possible with the PS2.

Verbatim/Mitsubishi Chemicals is really the best media for PS2.
That is for DVD-R as for CD-R.
Now the for DVD-R you might try the datatrack's which are made by TY. Which seem to be allmost as good as the verbatim disc's.
With cd's you could try some black media. Like Doplphinius_Rex said. But if you burn your disc's at slow speeds >12x AZO really is the best dye for most burners.

rjw: That's true, but it depends on the burner. I'm told not to use mitsubishi chem co. on a LiteON burner, and as I havn't aquired a Yamaha F1 yet (WHAH!) I tend to forget about the CD-Rs I shouldn't use.

Well the 48x Lite On's seem to work good with the new AZO 48x disc's and also the older burners below 24 have no problems with Verbatim disc's. The problem is with the 32x and the 40x Lite On's.
But hey with Lite On it's just a question of using the right (OC-ED/DC-ED) firmware for the right media.

so will an overclocked 40125S -> 48125W LiteON Burner play nicely with AZO CD-Rs???

I made a little mistake here the 52x Lite On is the one that has no Problems with Azo disc if you are using the correct firmware and if you burn at rated speed except for the 48x.
Still there have been quite some positive reports with the Lite On
LTR-48125W (VS08) and some Verbatim media. Looking at the results the factory seems to matter in writing quality.
