Just wondering if any one can tell me if it is worth it to try Prodisc 8x or Ritek 8x for this drive.I haven't heard anything good about the Piodata media so I'm kinda scared to try it. Is there any more affordable brands, looking for good quality. If not should I stick with the brands in retail stores.

Since so far it has been extremely difficult to come by 8x media where I live, I decided that I would first test some 4x media @ 8x. This was a Sony 4x dvd+r disc.

I would suggest scan at max speed (8X) and drop the DVD Identifier, since KProbe includes all the needed information about the tested media

It seems that everything is much difference this way, which one now is correct?

Is it possible that due to the reader's error correction at 4X most errors not to be reported while in 8X were?

Wow, if I were you I would use this media from now on, since it seems to have good results with your drives.

prodisc have unfortunately gone down the tubes lately. They're apparently using a fake "MCC" code and people are having all sorts of trouble. I bought them when they had the S03 code and I had issues then, so I'm staying far away from prodisc. Ritek are very good, i've never had a problem and apparently some people had issues a few months ago but it looks like everything dandy with Ritek now.
