For sure 16X Z-CLV isn't fast, lets wait to see the drive at least with 1.00 firmware

hi guys, i am new to the forum.

i thought some of you might be interested; the DVR-108 is out already. This is the non XL model

http://www.esbuy.com/pioneerdvr1081.html

i guess it isn't quiet, but i am debating whether to get the plextor 712SA or the pioneer 108! I mostly do data and movie backups... but once in a while game backups. i hear the plextor has problems, but my concern is data integrity. Anyone have an opinion about which is probably better?

my dad is getting a new sony vaio, is the PX 712UF good? is it worse than the A or SA version?

also, i have another question, anyone know where i can get Taiyo Yuden Media? i want 8x TYs, getting tired of Ritek... some of my old burns aren't working now

Good news, our review will compare PX-712A and ASUS DRW-1604P drives...

About the Plextor PX-712A there have been reports that has some problems that Plextor supposed to fix with a new firmwar update, we have no official information about this, hopefully we can learn something soon.

All Plextor drives, PX-712A/S/UF are exactly the same so there is no problem here

About TY media, probably Dolphy can help you...

Hi, Im new got a question about that statement if i may. So it is possible through firmware to make this drive faster? Will the firmware change it to P-CAV or will is just make the Z-CLV faster? Also what factors into a company (like Pioneer. asus. nec....etc) to chose one method over the other? Seems as if Z-CLV is more popular with the manufacturers.

Thanx in advance

So you are saying there will be two types of the same drive? One with Z-CLV and one with P-CAV?
