Here is the new firmware details B7F9, the final release B7G9 should released in two days, if no serious problems encountered, meaning, finally all BenQ DW1600A users will enjoy it.

Here are some first info:

* NeroInfoTool from B7F9:

Nothing exciting here, just the usual stuff

* Actually Nero writing for 16X -R writing from TY 8X-R

Something went wrong here and the drive reduced speed at 8X P-CAV, what when wrong?

Hmm, how about checking the actual Nero writing time, it seems the drive went to 8X and locked there.

The Nero CDSpeed graphs doesn't show that the drive uses WOPC feature, but the actual writing showed it does [write (red)/calibrate (green)/write (red)/ etc...]

Hopefully soon we have more news from BenQ, it could be also that the used media are not good, we will try with other later today

TY 8X -R @ 16X with NeroCDSpeed (Create Data Disc)

Even NeroCDSpeed reports 16X -R, the drive reduced speed, due to WOPC (as it seems its present, when however using the simulation, doesn't kick-in), and burn the disc at almost 4X...BenQ did mention that 16X -R won't be easy due to the condition of each disc...

Here is the CDSpeed graph, looks quite smooth

Verbatim 8X -R @ 8X with NeroCDSpeed (Create Data Disc)

There we can see the real 8X P-CAV graph!

very interesting graphs Emperor!

Do you have any idea now, when the public release will be out? I believe you said something about B7G9 on or around Aug. 5th. And I do see you have G fw in your last testing.

How do they know that something is wrong with your drive? If you can tell us how and what maybe I can check if my drive is also defective. For now my drive burns great on all different media I put in. If this is a -r(w) issue I don't know if I use the firmware-upgrade or just stick with +r(w) / +r9-dl.

Im sorry benQ thinks your drive maybe bad. But I like the above poster would like to know how they knew this as my 1600 seems to burn very well on all media I have tried. Now sure we dont have daul fw so maybe there is something with B7x9 we dont know about, but it seems to me if it works on +R 12x or 16x that it also should work on -R 12x or 16x. Maybe I'm missing something?

my scans look just like yours , for RicohR02 at 12x there was very small hill on right side but nothing big and this could be from media. All media that I burn at rated speed has been wonderful.

We will get a "real" DW1620A drive soon to test it, BenQ said that they think something is wrong with our drive, since cannot reach 16X -R with TY 8X-R media, maybe its a firmware issue, really don't know, i hope that the final firmware will work just fine with "your" drives
