When burning, I get the error message "internal target failure"
Does anyone know what that means and how I can fix it so that when I burn it does not show up? I have had 5 bad CDs cause of the error message. Thanks

that doesn't sound too likely. It's hard to find media THAT bad these days. Even DST and Princo are better then that!

Have you tried upgrading your firmware?? another possibility is, your drive might not be compatible with that media, have you burned to it before??

This can be caused by poor media as suggested by others. Or old firmware for the recorder, as well as corrupted source data.

Does this occur when you use the CD Copy option, or just when you write from the HD to the Recorder?

I've also seen this caused by old drivers for the IDE Controller. Sometimes changing the IDE Bus to PIO Mode 3 can resolve this till you upgrade the drivers for the controller.

Craig

I have since updated to nero 5.5.9.17. I have not tried to burn with it yet, but before when I as using 5.5.9.0 I got the errors when I ws burning from HD to recorder.

I noticed that in my burn log, the error messsage always seems to be at the same point that the error shows up. does that give any indication of the the problem is? I had burned Mpg files to a CD before unsuccessfully, but the second time around it burned fine.

And how do I get new drivers for the IDE controller?

Sorry, it does not point to anything directly.

I would need to know if it occured only from a HD, and does it only occur when using the specific Hard Drive as source.

As for IDE drivers, depends on your IDE Chipset. IF you have VIA, you would go to www.viahardware.com for their latest 4in1 drivers. If you have the Intel ATA/100 controller, you would go to Intel's web site, etc.

Craig

It is only when I am burning from HD.

How do I find out what kind of IDE controller I have?

What operating system are you running?

You can go to the Control Panel>System>Device Manager and check under IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers
