I am using Nero to burn a CD. Everything is fine except for a tiny problem on playback. Out of say, 20 songs that I have burned, there are about 2 or 3 songs that are missing the first few millisecond at the beginning. Soemtimes there is a slight jump at the beginning too in the first second of the song. This has happened before when I was using the Hewitt Packard software.

I dont it is the mp3s because If I play these mp3s normally it is ok.

Any ideas what the problem is and how it can be fixed.

Aah, there could be your problem. Everytime you writer starts burning a track the lense in switched off and then switched on causing inconsistency on the starting of tracks. I would recommend writing at dao method as the cd is written at a stetch and the lense is never offed.

I guess it will help, give it a shot!

have updated to nero 5.5.9.9, the write method i used is Disc-at-once/96. An error comes up during the simulation. It says HP CD-Writer+9300, Buffer Underrun and the simulation is failed.

When I go to the "choose a recorder" option and select the Cd Writer. It says Buffer underrun protection: Not Supported.

Could this be the reason why?

Yes this drive seems to not support buffer underrun protection, but as long as your buffer remains full and it doesn't turn into the red area when writing you should be okay, My old HP didn't have a problem with Nero. I suggest trying the latest firmware for your drive this can be found at http://www.hp.com/cgi-bin/cposupport/swindex.pl?p=hpcdwriter20027&l=en&c=MicrosoftWindowsME. The latest version is 1.0c do you have that? For sure when writing this disc the best way is DAO. Let me know how things develop!

can burn on DAO now ta, but unfortunately the original problem is still there. Maybe I'll just need to re d/l another version of the mp3 to fix this.

Wyatt, that's possible, try it and see if that works. Also, try opening the Nero wave editor, then click file, open and then open the questionable mp3 file, play it through the sound editor and see if it's missing part of the file...

There doesnt seem to be any missing parts playing it in the wave editor.

Also this problem is happening if I play the cd in track order, if I select random play, its fine.

Wyatt,

What are you playing the MP3 disks you created on? Is it a stand alone player (portable) or what?

Wow! And you're getting this? What speed are your drives, does this occur during spin up or after the drive is already spun up?

the speed of the hp drive is 20x4x32x, and it happens after the drive has already spun up.

Hi MP3Mogul & Wyatt
Well Wyatt for a start you you say your 9300i is a 20x4x32 and it is not! It is 10x write 4x rewrite 32x read !!!
And if you are getting buffer underruns the usual case is if you are Recording many small files or Damaged source files (data loss)or your Source is not reading the data fast enough for your Writer or you have got too many programs running in the background so disable all the programs you are running before you try to Write. Another option is for you to try other Campatible Media so try some 12x instead of going for the High Speed ones. Most of your problems I think are being caused by not having Burnproof Technology fitted to your Writer and this has been a problem for as long as I can remember ! But and I would also check that the files that you are trying to copy are not corrupt !!!
I hope this Helps !!!
