Hi i just got a Yamaha CRW-F1 internal drive and a Vipower VP-6228 USB 2.0 cd-rom external enclosure and decidd to write my first ever hardware review at
http://i4net.tv/yamaha-crwf1/ Yamaha CRW-F1 has made 14 cd-r coasters so far :(
I'm having lots of problems with CRW-F1 drive giving me scsi/ide command aborted errors particularly when i
1. use Disc-at-once method of burning to taiyo yuden white printable 80min cd-rs, laser premium gold 80min 40x cd-rs, kodak ultima80 gold+silver 12x cd-rs or regularly 80min burns on opti-ups 90min 24x cd-rs
Or
2. when overburn to opti-ups 90min 24x speed cd-r discs
above 3 images with laser 80min 40x cd-rs using disc-at-once method

this was with opti-ups 90min 24x cd-r overburn with disc-at-once
Now if i use track-at-once i don't get any errors at all with Yamaha crw-f1 burning regularly <80min cd-rs
track-at-once with Optimum Write Speed control enabled
track-at-once with Optimum Write Speed control disabled
I've disabled auto detect cd-roms in registry, disabled NAV 2002 autoprotect, and disabled WinXP IMAPI service and have tried using several versions of Nero all with same result everytime
WinXP Pro
tried
Yamaha's bundled Nero 5.5.8.2
Nero 5.5.9.0 from Nero web site
Nero 5.5.9.9 leaked version
P4 2.26B Northwood
Abit BD7-II non-raid
512MB Corsair XMS3200PT cas 2-3-3
128MB X-Micro GF4 Ti4200 VIVO
2 x 80 Western Digital Caviar 800JB 8MB cache hdd
(in Lian Li RH58 Aluminium removable drive racks on Promise ATA100 controller)
Pioneer 16x 106s DVD-rom (primary master)
LiteOn 32x/12x/40x CD-RW burner (secondary master)
Chieftec/EYO AX01-SLD Aluminium Mid Tower Case
520W Topower Gold Dual Fan PSU
I did have ASPI not properly installed error
but i corrected that with ForceASPI which fixed it... but even after that i still get SCSI/IDE command aborted errors as explained above only when using disc-at-once, track-at-once is fine ...
any help is appreciated :)
thanks
George
