Hi

I've had some problems burning audio on my LiteOn 40x. When I use Fuji 700 mb 12x the result is very poor.

Because of the prices of cd's in Denmark I'm ordering them from Germany. This means that I can't look at them before bying.
Is there any brands I should avoid?
Can you recommend some brands that would be good for audio?

My order look like this at the moment:
100 Ritek Primedisc 40x - 700 mb (Slimcase) 47 euro
100 Platinum ??? 40x - 700 mb (Jewelcase) 47 euro
100 Silvercircle 32x - 700 mb (Cakebox) 30 euro

An (expensive) alternative is:
100 Verbatim Datalife plus 40x - 700 mb (Jewelcase) 85 euro

I'me using verbatim metal azo and infiniti professional and have had no problems yet.

Silvercircle is made by Prodisc.

Well I would normally recommend the expensive alternative. However I see that you had a Lite On drive and now I know that Lite On and Verbatim Datalife Plus aren't allways a good combination.
The platinum disc's won't last long. So I don't think that's a good option.

Some new results for the other 2 came in.
The Prime disc's are also not that good.
The Silver Circle's are average. So I think that this is your best option unless you can find some cheap Taiyo Yuden disc's.

Another vote for Taiyo Yuden, they work best with LiteOn drives. :)

AFAIK the best place to get CD-R's in Germany if money is no real concern is http://www.feurio.de. They are pretty expensive :( but have got a nice selection. You could either order 100 unbranded Taiyo Yudens (without cases) for 69 Euro, or (this is what I would do) order "100 Parrot CD-R 80, 24x" for 69 Euro (including Jewelcases, those are made by Taiyo Yuden too). :)

first thing is, you're paying TOO much for your CDs. Secondly, T.Y. is great, but you'll pay a lot for it! Thirdly (ducking head anticipating flames), pick up a couple CMC CDs, if they work well for you then you have a cheap solution. I use CMCs for everything and I never have ANY problems, this is however a recent thing. As it turns out, the CDs I swore against when I first started burning (BASF) were all made by CMC, and 1 in 10 of those was Guarenteed to fail (no exceptions), but that's in the past now. anyways, a couple won't hurt to try. good luck!

Don't use the CMC disc's
I haven't seen any test results of CMC disc's comming near TY or Mitsui disc's.
Disc's which have E32 errors aren't good (Imation made by CMC Magnetics tested by PC-Welt.)These disc's scored a 4.8 for quality now a 5 is the worst you can get so this says enough. This test was based on results of 3 burners including a Plextor and A Lite On

Yeah, but how old were the Discs? CMC used to REALLY suck! I swore against it in my early years, but have just recently come back to it. I've burned over 350 audio CDs on my LiteON 40x12x48x burner at 32x, without a single failure, and no scratchyness or any problems at all. I've noticed that most of the tests done with CMC are done on old OLD stock...for goodness sake, let the company fix it's mistake already.

Personally, TY will work best in your LiteOn. As for the CMC media, save it to put softdrinks on!

The Imations from PC-WELT are 32x. So they are new. Still it is known that Imation uses not the highest grade cd-r's. But then again why do the most disc's even which are made these days by CMC Magnetic's score over-all lower as Taiyo Yudens or Verbatim's or even Ritek's when it comes to disc-quality. (Okay now Ritek has some luck with there Memorex and there TDK disc's. But still in the end it scores better)

And Dolphinus Rex if these disc's are really so great post some WSES pictures if you can. Since I really would like to see if CMC Magnetics is finally delivering good disc's these days.

According to the ISO/SCC/DIN/IEC for cd-r's (If am correct this is the ISO 10149 norm) a cd-r may not contain any E-32 errors.
Whoops and what did the Imation CMC disc's have according to PC welt.
Yep E32. The worst error there is. So this says enough.

Correct, fresh NEW CMC media is still producing errors, I'm not quite sure where Dolphinius is getting his info that CMC has fixed the problem and rates them great. I still won't even let me little daughter use them because they are horrible.

Well, I've made hundreds of Audio CDs on CMC CD-Rs in the last 2 weeks, and I had no problems at all. The only CDs *I* put softdrinks on is AOL CDs (though I'm sure we can ALL agree on that one...right?). But seriously, CMC CDs arn't that bad. I use them all the time. In fact, I ONLY use CMC CD-Rs...exepct when I'm burning a 90+min CD-R...in which case I'm usually burning on a Ritech, or MAYBE a ProDisc. I just don't understand how other people can have SO many problems, and yet I don't have any? I've burned the CDs on several differnt burners, mostly LiteON 40x12x48x, but also HP 16x (I don't know the other parameters) and a Creative 12x10x32.

Dolphinius: If they work for you great! keep on using them, but I do not recommend them to any user in this forum. CMC has a long history of faulty discs that produce errors, and they still are producing errors. They have the highest failure rate in the industry. But if they work for you [^]
