Has anyone encountered a fix for the problem of Windows XP Media Player not recognizing a Compaq Pressario CDD-4801? The problem is that when you try to burn a CD with messenger, it provides the message "no device detected." Third-party CD burning programs seem to work fine. I have worked with a number of support sources and still have not corrected this problem.

What I have done thus far is to change the registry so that "Recording tab" comes up under properties for the CD drive. I have also updated the firmware with the latest from Compaq.

Does anyone have any other suggestions?
