Go to Best Buy they have them on sale now and after a $20 rebate which is good till Nov 30 the cost is $99. You can't beat that.

Great site and nice reviews. I have a question on the drive: Are the Yahama CRW-F1 internal drives bootable?

Thanks

Yes it is bootable, actually all cd-rom/dvd-rom/cd-rw drives are bootable with a bootable disc

Thanks for the info, I know that all drives can be used with a bootable floppy, but the problem sometimes lies in getting the dos drivers. My DVD drive isn't bootable (Liteon LTD163) and it is just handy when I can boot from the OS cd directly instead of chasing down dos drivers. I'm tired of my USB cd burner and I am starting to look for an internal burner.

Just discovered this site after doing
a search on the F1 and I must say that
the review quality is superb (though
it maybe could've done with a bit
of native English proof-reading).

For CD-R reviews I don't think I've ever
seen anything quite so exhaustive in detail
either in print or on the web. Just the
resource I need...I even see that
Yamaha themselves are contributing in this
forum.

I have just received a CRW-F1 as a Christmas present

While I have been very impressed with the drive as a whole, iannot seem to get the Disc T@2 function to work.

Every time I try to burn an image onto the Disc I get the window showing "Time Elapsed" and "Time Remaining" etc, but then it freezes and I have to restart my system. Has anyone else had this problem or can help me?

With thanks.

The best thing to do is drop Yamaha Customer Support an e-mail and I am sure they will sort your problem out !!!
