I've CDRW NEC 7800A (16x/10x/40x) and Until now I can't burn even a single CD-R media. I've try many CD-R Media and it seems this CDRW can't indentify the media.

can anyone have similar experience using NEC CDRW.

If you have not tried CD Mate it is worth a try as they have got a patch for NEC CDRW'S you can get the patch here :-

I'm using Nero 5.5.8.0 and it can detect NEC CDRW 7800A

yes it can read original CD's but it can't read BLANK CD-R MEDIA or CDRW Media.

Notes : unindentified or not detect any CD-r Media

question is how u can burn CD-R media if CDRW can't detect it ???
or something wrong with my NEC CDRW ?

Afu - There is no need to identify the disc before burning. The drive probably won't recognise a blank CD, that is normal (open to correction if i am wrong).
Use the nero wizard to compile a data CD, write the CD and then try reading it.

it's suppose to be able to recognize a blank cd in order to burn cd.

Try and burn with the blank cd and then you should have something to read ! How can you read a Blank cd if there is nothing on it to read ?

the cdrw can't recognize when I insert a blank CD-r Media.
I already try alot of CD-R media and still not even one can be detected.

but when a blank cd already been burn my cdrw can detect it.
thats strange don't u think so ?

If you like to know what brand the disc is us Nero CD Speed (which is free with Nero) and do a speed test and when you record it will tell you the brand. Hope that info helps.

So are you saying " You cannot read the CDR when it is blank but you can read it when you have burn something on to it with the same CD Writer" If that is the case it is normal !!!

1. NEC Can't read any blank CD-r Media.
2. I burn blank CD-r Media with different CDRW (ex. RICOH)
3. Insert CD-r Media that already been burn with RICOH CDRW (example)
4. NEC CDRW can read it without any problem.

the question is why NEC CDRW can't read blank CD-r Media but can't read CD-r Media that has been burn with ricoh cdrw (example) ?

I am having the same problem but with an aopen 20x10x40. I have tried multiple software programs and only a couple cdr's. I am using NTI software right now. When you set up an image to burn and you have a blank cdr in the drive and you hit the burn or record button it asks for you to insert a blank cd. Now this is what is wierd with mine. I have two blank CDR I insert one and it shows up as blank cd with 753mb of free space, ready to burn. I insert the other blank, just out of the wrapper and it does not recognize it. I am planning on stopping and getting a different brand of media on the way home to try. Mine also will read originals fine, but older cds that are backups it reads some but not others, some of the same media some not. Other than media the only thing I can think of is a dirty lense.

Well it is definitly a media issue. I got some Imitation CDRW and it works fine. Now I have to find a CDR that will work.

I have an AOpen 40x12x48 in one of my computers and I use RITEK 32x unbranded CDR'S and I have had no problems at all !!
