This is the most awesome piece of hardware I have ever heard of! It is the most feature-packed toaster I have ever seen

Price is expected below $200. As for SD2 don't know, we will have to wait, even i predict due to its OAK chipsets no hardware EFM correction would it possible

Damm, I want one right now, well almost?

I know this question will come up, will it be compatible with the 22/3200's SCSI adapter or will there be a pure internal SCSI version or new adapter?

Hopefully when John gets his review sample I/we shall find out? ;-)

New Yamaha looks very good. Ive been using my CRW4416S for three years now and its just given up the ghost after lots of hammer. Id recommend them to anyone.

John, Yamaha says they are using their own chipset, specially developed for the CRW-F1 series, not OAK's chipsets...

The features:
- Disc T@2
- Advanced Audio Master quality recording
- 44x CD-R recording
- 24x CD-RW recording
- 44x reading speed
- 44x high-fidelity audio ripping
- Yamaha YDC132-V chip set powered
- CAV writing method
- CD-MRW (CD-Mount Rainier ReWrite)
- CD-RW Audio Track edit mode
- SafeBurn: buffer underrun protection
- 8 MB buffer
- Optimum write speed control
- Incl. software: Nero, Nero Cover Designer with DiscT@2 function, NeroMIX, InCD and Nero Toolkit

Yes new Yamaha chipset is real but it only supports the disc@2 and some other features not the burning process (however not 100% sure - we will have to ask)

I ran my 3200S of my Adaptec 2940UW for a while before upgrading to a 29160N, worked fine, that's what Safeburn and Optimum write speed control are for. ;-)

I wish I never had bought a Pioneer DVR-A04 a couple of weeks ago now, would of managed with 99min CDR's just fine.

Here is what the new CRWF1 uses:

"...We use OTI 9797T as a EFM decoder/encoder and a basic servo
contoroller. Yamaha YDC132-V is used for CAV Controller/Writing
Strategy/Advanced AMQR/DiscT@2..."

OAK cannot do hardware EFM correction, as past has shown. I don't know if the drive would support eventually hardware EFM correction, end of this month we will learn more
