Has anyone else noticed the following: I was utilizing Memorex CDR Media (Certified 24X) and it worked great with firmware 1.0b. After upgrading to the 1.0d firmware, it's only recognized as 16X Media. I tested this on an open spindel of CDR's that I had previously recorded to with Nero at 24X (Using the 1.0b Firmware). I tried flashing back to the 1.0b firmware, and it did so successfully, however, Nero still says it's a 16X Media. Any ideas? The firmware was supposed to update support for Ritex CDR Media or something, did they delete the Memorex 24X Media?

Probably they lowered recording speed to improve quality. Try disable OWC (Optimum Write Control) to increase writing speed up to 24x.

I contacted Yamaha, and as a matter of fact, that's exactally what they did. And they made the same suggestion that you made, and it returned the memorex discs back to 24X. Funny that they should do that, I've never had a quality issue while recording at 24X.

The best CD's I have used so far are the Ritek 32x Unbranded which I get localy for £22 for 100 and I have never had a COASTER yet. Why don't you try them MP3Mogul I am sure you will not be dissapointed and you should be able to get them even cheaper in the States I would have thought.

I will try them when I see them. Circuit City and Best Buy here still don't have the 32x media as of yet. It's a little slow where I am, not a big city. But thanks for the info, and I will definately get some when they hit the market here.
