Hello all.

I'm using Nero 5564 on Windows XP home. I know there are later versions, but since I'm having no problems with this version, I think I'll be sticking with it, at least while I don't know what I'm doing. The thing is, I can use Nero without knowing how to, thankfully. I do wish I knew how to do sound editing though. Too often I find one track in my compilation sounds wooly or not right in some way. Sometimes it's a track that I really want there.

Anway, I deleted all of the 750 audio files from hard drive last night in an effort to correct a problem I'm having with Kazaa Lite, which I downloaded/ installed a couple of days ago. It all works great, except that every file (audio only) that I download duplicates. I don't think the file actually duplicates, because If I delete one, the other dies. So I would say that every download gets stated twice. It beats me. I'm not computer smart.

I uninstalled and re-installed Kazaa, then saved/copied some tracks from my (seriously over-priced) Alan Parsons "The Definitive Collection," which did not duplicate and which played fine. I tried to burn a compilation from them, which also went fine. But there are a few tracks there that, on the CD, merge. Nero splits them and they sound crappy afterward. How do I merge just those tracks? I believe I can make a copy of my CD, via DAO, but that doesn't appeal to me. There's too much crap on the CDs. The biggest plus for me in using a rewriter and file sharing is the ability to cut out the crap and just have what I want.

Thanks in advance. Later...

You can use the Nero WAV Editor to merge the files.

Or from within Nero, after you have dragged the audio files over to Audio1 compilation window in Nero, you can right-click on the first song, go to Index/Limits/and splits, and in the bottom left corner you will see the start and stop times of the song. Write down the end time for the song. Go back to the previous window, select the second song, go to it's properties, and under Index/limits/splits, click the EDIT button, and set the start time of this song to begin when the other song ends. This will cause them to merge as one song when written to the Audio CD.

Regards,

Craig

Thanks!

Hopes this ends up in the right spot after logging on 'after' hitting the reply button, which sent me here and there when I realized I had to use the original, temp, password. Which I had the good sense to move to a 'Keepers' folder in my Outlook Express.

But in 'profile', I only see the option to register -?

But is it organic?

Craig: I tried the steps you outlined and it didn't work. Did you include all the steps that I need?

I posted about this in the 'Other' forum, because I didn't realize I had been in here. What about the 2 second gap setting? Should I eliminate that? Your steps seem simple, so I can't understand how I could be getting the bad results I'm getting. We must be missing something here.

ps: There is also a series of 3 tracks I merge. Would the steps (whatever they are 'exactly') be the same for merging 3 tracks as they are for merging 2 tracks?

Later...

The 2 second gap issue does not apply as the tracks have been merged.

But you must write in Disc-At-Once mode.

Here is the steps again....

If you want to burn a Audio CD with a number of audio files, and
have all show up as one AUDIO file then proceed as follows:

1. Click the Audio CD Icon and enable disc-at-once under the
property page 'burn'. Now click the 'New' Button.
2. Select the WAV-file and drag&drop the WAV file n times to the Audio
Compilation Window (Audio1).
3. For each dropped track:
a. doubleclick the track
b. not for the first track: set the pause to zero seconds under
'track properties'-
c. under 'set track limits'. Set the start time and the end time.
The end time of a track should be identical to the start time
of the following track

4. Now you can click the burn button.

Regards,

Craig

I had that also. Turns out for me I had the LoveLetter virus - you may also. It copies itself afer every .mp3 and .jpg file as far as I can tell. You need to remove it with a util from Symantec (www.symantec.com), then scan with an Anti-Virus (I use Norton 2002) to deleate all the files that are infected. Because every time you execute one of those VB Script files, the virus runs itself again and infects your system agian. It really pissed me off also - having all these worthless copies of my songs names

Good luck!
