YES IT CAN. Incorrect information regarding Yamaha and Safedisc v 2.0

I have a Yamaha 3200e burner and have SUCCESSFULLY burned backups of cd's copyrighted with Safedisc 2.0(Most recently Max Payne and American Magee's Alice). The only programs I used were Clone cd and Clonny XXL.Just wanted to point that out.Feel free to ask if you have any questions.

I agree I have yet to come across anything that the Yamaha 3200E will not copy using Clony XXL and CloneCD it is the best CD Writer I have had and I have tried them all including Plextor 40x and the Liteon 40X I have had most of Writers for the last 10 years going back to the HP 2X SCSI and The Yamaha 3200E is the best I have come across. Highly recomended a bit more expensive than some but with Yamaha you get what you pay for.

The problem with many users is that they don't test backups in the proper reader. When we say it can do SD2, we mean it work WITHOUT any software interfernce. With latest CloneCD v4.x all drives can do SD2 with "Amplify Weak Sectors" setting.

Yamaha 3200E SD2 backups will work in the same drive, not in most CD-ROMS.

Well I have tried mine since you posted this reply on 5 different computers all with different CD-Roms in them and they all work fine also I never use my Yamaha to install software on my computer I always use my Toshiba 1502 DVD drive so how come you are saying that copies made with the Yamaha only can run on the Yamaha. Are Lite-On and Plextor slipping you some goodies to push their products? LOL

Are you sure you haven't enabled "Amplify Weak Sectors"?

Yamaha CRW3200E cannot do SD2 as our tests had shown.

What difference does it make if I use Amplify Weak Sectors that is what it is supposed to be for, to use! As long as the CD'S work when they are put into other CD-Roms to install them on the computer? What you are saying is the Yamaha CRW3200E cannot do SD2 as your tests had shown. Did you use the new firmware 1.0d and as I will repeat I can copy SD2 disks with my Yamaha 3200e with firmware 1.0d and they work on all the 5 different computers I have tried them on. So why didn't yours work I don't know!

It takes a lot of difference if you enable "Amplify Weak Sectors" or not. When we test new drives, we want to see if they are capable of backup SD2 without any software interfearnce. That's why i said Yamaha CRW2200/3200x series cannot do SD2.

So wouldn't it make things a lot easier for people who don't know much about copying cd's if you explained that they will do sd2 if you use Amplify Weak Sectors instead of "they will not do SD2" in your tests. Also Clone CD V4 does this without you having to set it up and to make it easy for you.

Yes but when many drives was being tested, CloneCD couldn't backup SD2 v2.51 even with AWS enabled...

I agree but now with Clone CD v4 with Amplify Weak Sectors it will copy sd2 v2.51 with most of CD Writers so will you please add this to your tests to help those who are new to Burning. I am not asking for myself as I have been a computer engineer for a lot of years and I have had a CD Writer from day one. I am not moaning just asking you to help the people new to burning and to save them a lot of cash. I have respected CDR-INFO for a long time and you do do a very good job but please listen to what I have to say.

I have read your new review on the Samsung SW-232B IDE CDR-W and on Page 5 you say "We used the drive both as reader/writer at the maximum reading/recording speed. The produced backups didn't worked with various readers. Howver using "Amplify Weak Sectors" setting of latest CloneCD v4.x series can overpass it..." so this means they work YES. And on Page 8 Conclusion you say in the Negative (-) column "- Cannot backup SD2 protected CDs" so is that not confusing to new people? So why not say yes they can do SD2 backups if you use Amplify Weak Sectors but no if you don't in your Conclusion section then it won't confuse them.
Anyway Enough said!!

Again you miss the point...We will say that the drive supports SD2 only when it can do it by bare hardware and not with software patches. Users who will read the entire review, will see that with a specific software(s) will be able to overpass it.

Maybe with a newer SD2, CloneCD will not work...Then what happens? Will the drive supports SD2 or not??
