Hi,

I'm having problems burning with the Sony CRX175E - At first I thought it was the software because Nero and WinOnCD doesn't support the drive yet, so I downloaded the lastest version of CloneCD which does support it, and it still doesn't work!

It reads the CD to image fine, but every single time it tries to write, it gives me a "Medium Error" report. Does that mean there's something wrong with my blank CD-R's? (Princo 80m 24x) Could they be incompatible with my drive? I'll get some different CD-R's today, but I doubt that's the reason.

Does anyone else have this drive and got it to work?

hmm..Does this happen with all media? Try other brands

I've just tried 2 other brands but no luck. Almost every single time it writes it gives me the "No Seek Incomplete" report when it does the "Lead In" thingy.

I have got it to work at 4x but that just adds to the frustration especially considering I got it to work at 24x twice before.

Need help badly, I've coasted 20 CDR's already :(

Try other media..Go with branded media like TaiyoYuden, Mitsui, Kodak, TDK

What brands of media did you use for your CRX175A review?

I got one of these burners OEM and I can't find any software that supports it. It has been a source of endless frustration for me. Does anybody know of any software thats works with it other than Clone- CD?

I've had my 175E since Nov. 25th and its been fine but lately I've been experiencing wierd problems. I burn at 24X just fine, but sometimes it just doesn't power up. Not a PSU or cable issue.

When I burn CD's so far just in Nero. Lately the progress report just stops at some percentage, then jumps and continues, mouse movement is paused or slow. MP3 doesn't skip while burning. All CD's come out just fine.

I don't know if its dying or just wierd.

I'm glad there's someone out there with the same problem as me :)
At the moment there aren't any burning software that supports the 175E except for clonecd. If you manage to get it working, do email me svt76@hotmail.com - thanks.

John: Nero doesn't have the 175E listed in its "supported drives" database.
I still haven't tried better CD-R's yet, as I don't think that'll work. I'm just waiting for the software to play catchup with the latest hardware.
