I have an older Plextor that is 4/12 SCSI. It does burn everything really well except for SD2. Which Plextor right now is the best to buy that will overburn and do SD2? I was told if I could find the SCSI Plextor PX-W124TS (12x8.32x) would be a good one to go with. I only want a Plextor and want the best of the bunch to burn with. I will still use the old one but want to get a new one for down the road.

Plextor has 2 models that can do Safedisk without Beta Blocker
The old SCSI PX-R820 (SCSI) made after February. firmware must be 1.07
And the new 24/10/40A (IDE)with burnproof and powerrecII
The first one isn`t made any more.
So if you want a new drive there is only one choice and it will be the IDE one.

Like you said it is not about speed. If I would buy the plex or the lite on 24. I won`t burn at 24 speed. But just at 16 max because I don`t want gaps. So I can`t use CD-R's for mastering.(See Z-CLV vs P-CAV topic by THONK
It is just that it can do anything I want.
