Just tried to back up Empire Earth with my Lite-on 24102b (5s07) and clonecd (3082).
Game will play from copy, but will not install. This isn't really a problem, but I haven't encountered this before.

Can you findout what protection that is? use cloneCD database to scan it.

Try latest CloneCD version. Probably a new SD2 improved protection

Just looking at what's on the disk, I'd say it's not SD2, doesn't have the files associated with that type of protection. I've backed up new games w/SD2 and secuROM with zero problems, hmm...I'll try the latest cloneCD version, see what happens,

I've been having the same problem trying to backup Empire Earth with CloneCD 3091 on my friend's Lite-On 24102B. Clony detected Read Errors on the disc though I was still unable to back it up perfectly with the predefined settings. The copy will install but the game will not run with the copy, even when I used the burner to run the game.

I guess I will also give the latest CloneCD a try (3211?). Let me know if you made a perfect copy.

btw, I noticed that the EE image found on Direct Connect is under the *.bin extension. Could this mean that Discjuggler has no problems backing the game up?

even with the new version of CloneCD, you still need to know what protection before you can make a setup so it can make copy of it, you need to scan it and findout what protection method before you can do a copy.

my mistake, the image I Empire Earth image I got off of DC was one made by CDRWin. I'm testing to see if it works.

I've already tried using several copy-protection detection softwares to scan the game disc. All turned up "Read Errors" detected as the copy-protection though I've not personally made a perfect copy of the game yet.

according to this review I just read of the Lite-On 24102B, Empire Earth uses the New SecuRom for protection. I couldn't tell if the reviewer was successful at backing up the game as the review was translated from German.

Damn it, anyone know how to make a perfect copy of the New SecuRom with the Lite-On 24X?

if i were you i try to slow down the read and write speed and with this setup.
