Hi all, I'm looking to buy a new dvd burner to make backups of my dvd collection. I'm looking at the Samsung S222a for a usb external case. I'm wondering about DL ripping speed. Before I buy I want to make sure its fast at ripping DL movies. I have the Samsung 203b and I can't get it to rip past 8000kb a sec. My Liteon rips really fast but I have a problem with the Liteon drives tray not working right. 6months old and my Liteon has a problem ejecting the tray sometimes. Any help would be great.

It's going to be at the same speed as your current Samsung, they are locked.

Thanks MP3Mogul, my Samsung 203b does nothing but give me errors now when I try to burn anything. It says writing failed, wrong block address. I've tried different dvdr media and cd and says the same thing. The drive is only 6-8 months old. I don't think I'll ever buy another Samsung again. I've got Liteons older than that, that i've never had problems with. I've tried 10 different dvd+ r discs and the all fail and say wrong block address. I only use Sony or Verbatim dvd+ r. So to make sure I try it again as I write this and low and behold it writes a perfect disc. But still, I'll never buy another Samsung burner. Thanks again for the reply. I'll probably stick with LiteOn & Sony burners. I use to buy alot of LG burners also but the last one I bought wouldn't burn a quality disc. And they are rip locked also. Thanks
