I have just had a most amazing occurance--never seen anything like it in my professional IT experience. THE LITE-ON 401S BD-ROM DRIVE HAS ACTUALLY PULVERISED A BD DISC. YES, IT DISINTEGRATED THE DISC INTO ABOUT 100 PIECES. Ejecting the drive, I found a plastic nightmare of little fragments to dispose of. Incredible! I have no idea why this happenned. YET. Whether related or not, the software involved was the latest Power-DVD version. It occurred during a swtichover from HDMI to VGA output due to a display device change. Don't know for sure yet if the Lite-On drive is toast, but I it probably is. Have to consider which disc to test it with. Yikes! Was this a test routine of the ultimate in HDMI/corporate copy protection control? Well, if it was, you lying corporate smucks, you got a bug--AS USUAL. I wasn't even trying to cheat. I was just switching to VGA output to get the damn thing to play in regular DVD resolution.
