The worst part is that If AVG says it detects a virus I dunno whether or not to take it seriously.... Anyway "It says" it found a virus in the "temperory internet files" folder which is in the "local settings folder" of the saccount I'm on, but I can't access this folder even though I have "show hidden files and folders" turned on, so I was wondering how to access this folder so I can look into it myself.
-Thanks

This post isn't really about viruses anymore, now I'd like to know how to access certain hidden folders "trust me I know what I'm doing" one example would be the "temperory internet files" folder which won't show up even if hidden files and folders are turned on.

From a command prompt:

"dir C:\*. /ah /s" to display hidden and system directories.  Then "cd" to them.

There is also a way to get Windows to show you this information in Explorer by use Tools/Folder Options/View (tab).

Yes, unprotect hidden and system protected files as well.  There is "nothing" of any use in the folder you are attempting to gain access to though.

Thanks for the command thing sithtracy, I find those very interesting, but the option in Tools/Folder Options/View doesn't seem to fix it. Also I was hoping for a more user friendly way or whatever its called way to get to these folders besides the command prompt, I'd like to be able to browseto and through them in the normal windows explorer.
