Can anyone help me i have a 16102b drive and windows xp (with cdr patch) when burning a disk with diskjuggler it burns the whole disk fine but when it comes to the end. the drive just locks up with a flshing green led and you can not eject the disk. The only way to get back control is to turn the pc off.So i tried the latest firmware. Now it still does the same and now it will not read any disks it just ejects them after a time. I have heard of dos flashes but will this help and where do i get them from.
Please help as soon this drive is going through the round window.

Hi stick.. i have exactly the same problem, and im also using WIN XP... I did have this happen a little while ago, and all I did was format the C: and re-install windows xp,, and it started working again.. but.... strangelly it didn`t work the second time, so im a little confused to why its doing it... you didn`t by any chance use a CD/RW just before this happened did you???? I`ve found both times its been because I used the liteon CD/RW. I will be looking for a way around this too, so hopefully some peeps on here will have an idea whats wrong??

I have exactly the same problem. Just bought the drive today, and have 4 trashed discs. I've tried 4 different burnprograms, with the same result. Everything seems fine until it's about to finish, then the green light just flashes. I waited 15 minutes, and lo & behold, the disc came out. I inserted the disc again to check it out. Now the drive just flashes green again.

I tried inserting other cd's, but it would just eject them after a few seconds. I'm running WinXP and I've upgraded the firmware. No fix.

I'm pretty angry now, I just shelled out my hardearned money, and now it seems like I will have to get rid of it again. And that site, I haven't seen a site as bad as LiteOn's....

Happy customer? No..

btw. I haven't installed or tried anything with the RW function.

And go figure, so do I. I formatted my machine as well, and got the same problem. That blinking light.

This could be a major issue developing...

I hope everyone with this problem reports it to LiteOn. If there's enough complaints, they may do something about it.

I am actually trying to send this drive back and get my money back. Liteon support is not really good...

I do not know what else to do...

thats interesting to hear of others having the same problem,, i was begining to think it was a faulty drive I had.. but seems like its an issue with these drives, now becomming a worry. If there is a way of deflashing the firmware,, maybe that`ll help, im sure i`ve read somewhere of people doing this.. or at least I hope so :(.

Can anybody of you actually read cd's? As soon as I insert for instance an audio cd or original cd, it ejects it. If I insert a burned cd, it just tells me it's empty, non-readable.

I can`t read any cds from the drive, it just blinks when I put a cd in and I have to reboot the pc to open the drive. Also I can burn cd`s but at the end of the burn, the cd doesn`t eject, just blinks and again I have to reboot the pc. Strange thing is though... when i try the burned cd`s in the other cd rom they work perfectly!!!!. damm anoying though!!

I have the same drive running on XP. Nine times out of ten, the drive will not read any CDs; audio or data.

Well, I finally succeded to get a complete burn. I waited for 10 or 15 minutes, and the CD suddenly popped out and Fireburner told me it was finished. And the cd worked.

Not my idea of good hardware though. I can't put anything in the drive except empty cdr's which take forever to finish (lead out 15+ minutes, yeah, my new 16x burner)

I've got the RMA from the distributor I bought it at. I'll wait a few more days to see if LiteOn can fix it, otherwise it's gone.

Hi,

Wondered if you tried this, (worked for me)
Power down PC and remove supply
locate six pins on extreme left of CDRW looking from back (opposite end from power conector)::: short bottomleft two pins with a link.
Power up PC into OS
Shutdown as normal.
Remove link
Power up.
Hey Presto...........

nope that didn`t work.. its just ejects the tray all the time now, :(

Probably some crap compatibility problems with windows XP?

Never had such problems myself......but I'm only running w2k sp2.

Think I'll wait until Windows XP is stabile, got it's first servicepack and so on before I upgrade....

Did you guys install the VIA 4in1 package? Or any VIA IDE drivers? They may cause lot of trouble, but some times they may also cure much trouble......

Oh, by the way, I'm running a Intel 440BX motherboard, so no Via here, and I've got the same problems in DOS, so no WinXP there.
