I have Pioneer DVR-108 which I think is a DVR-A08XLA
Firmware update to version 1.20B
It can read commercial title CD and DVD disc with no problem
It can read burn CD-R, CD-RW and DVD+RW disc with no problem
It can not read any data or home made dvd I burn on DVD+R disc but I do have a 1 data disc that dose load which is odd.
All disc where burn with Nero or Ulead DVD MovieFactory
All DVD+R disc I have work fine in other OS like Linux, Win98SE and Win2000 Pro with same DVD drive listed above.
In idea on what could be wrong in WinXP??

Not convinced it is XP, but what kind of media are you trying to read.  I preach about using Verbatim and Taiyo Yuden.  That said, with a Pioneer drive, +R media is not your best choice.  I'd burn DVD-R media in a Pioneer drive.

Specifically, what brand of media are you using... I suggest you try quality media like Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden... Media is key to data.  I never use "B" grade media for any of my backups... sure, it costs a bit more, but I don't have the headaches some have when they use suspect media (Ritek/RiData, etc.)

My point on Pioneer, is that it is more suited for DVD-R media simply because a Pioneer drive cannot booktype DVD+R media.  I'm not saying it is bad.  Pioneer is still bitter about the DVD-R vs DVD+R battles of a few years ago... Sure, they write to DVD+R, but don't booktype (unless you use hacked firmware at which point you void your warranty... but for a drive that old, perhaps it is not a bad idea).
