I see they have separated AnyDVD and AnyDVD HD... I am not in any hurry to get a HD-DVD sytstem for my home.  I suspect AnyDVD HD will require a seperate purchase... and thats fine... you gotta make money, but my concern is for the others out there like me that have no interest in HD-DVD or BluRay at this time, plain 'ol AnyDVD might get left behind in development because the Slysoft folks are busy facing new challenges with HD content.  I think $30 is a bit rich to upgrade to something I will not need right now.... But, if I must... I'll keep an eye on this, but RipIt4Me has been great.  I do like AnyDVD more for audio ripping.

Do not worry.  SlySoft is taking care of its AnyDVD classic customers.
1. AnyDVD and AnyDVD-HD are separate marketable products but share the same installer and executable.
2. AnyDVD-HD is basically AnyDVD plus HD-DVD/AACS decryption.
3. AnyDVD classic customers can upgrade for the difference in price between the products.  As of this writing the difference/upgrade cost is $30 USD.
4. Should one choose to upgrade, you get a new license key that activates the HD-DVD/AACS decryption part of AnyDVD.  I'm not sure if they still let you keep the original license key or if they deactivate though.

Hi
Basically the program is the same i.e. AnyDVD & AnyDVD HD.
It is the key that differs.
During trial period it's fully functional inc the HD side.
If you have/use a AnyDVD key then the HD aspect is greyed out.
The upgrade 'key' unlocks this (the whole program in fact).
With regards to 'old' key, at present. That remains valid/usable (I currently use both). Whether that will change in the future is anybodies guess.
Apart from slysoft of course.
The above beta, if you've got 64 bit OS is still worth downloading (apparently). If your using the AnyDVD key only HD aspect is disabled.

Hi Zebadee:
I can see you have things well organized here, nice to see you, not much I can add here as you have said it all perfectly.

The battle is not over between HD and BluRay... Is SlySoft going to charge more for a AnyDVD BluRay product when they get to that point or will it be included under the High Def content and be sold as part of the HD product?

That would by telling. (No I don't know).

Basically the same, but no longer beta.

Thanks!  Thought about it... Dropped the $30 for the upgrade... figured better do it now than wait until the price goes up.  Still not convinced about HD-DVD or BluRay, but there is no harm in preparing for an inevitable future and investing in a company that, in my opinion, believes in fair use.

When Sony win one of these format wars maybe then I will be a believer in BLU-RAY, for now I am content with HD, we will find out soon enough which platform will survive, who knows maybe both.

Amen to that!  I am certainly no SONY fan.  Everything I ever bought with the name SONY on it has been an absoulte nightmare... and this dates back to the 80's when I was growing up and into music and had a Sony boom box... what a piece of junk!  Sony car decks, Sony stereos... ALL JUNK!!!!!  I was even dumb enough to buy a Sony camcorder... a friend of mine convinced me they were the best.  Some friend.  It ate the tape of the birth of my daughter.  We were only able to recover 97 seconds off the Hi8 tape!!!!  Sony is a cursed name in my family.
