The Mandriva One 2006 final iso images were released May 16 to public FTP mirrors, the France-based Linux company said on its website. The distro's combined live and installation CD uses a 2.6.12 kernel and includes the KDE desktop as a default, plus numerous other applications.

Mandriva One 2006 was originally announced on March 16, at which time it was made available to Mandriva Club members only.

A small sample of the many bundled applications included in the Mandriva One 2006 distribution are:

• Firefox 1.5.0.3 web browser
  
• Evolution 2.2.3 email client
  
• GAIM 2.0 Beta 3 instant messaging client.
  
• OpenOffice 2.0 office suite
  
• GIMP 2.2.8 image/graphics editing
  
• Mindawn music player

The 659 MB iso images of the Mandriva One 2006 Linux distribution are now available for public download from a number of FTP and HTTP mirrors around the world, and also via BitTorrent.

The three-CD set also is available for $80 purchase via the Mandriva website.
