I'm a newbie to DVD-R burning. I'm currently using a Toshiba 5205-s703 laptop that has a DVD-R burner (one of the early ones in laptops, circa Oct. 2002)
It came w/ "Drag N Drop CD" burning software. I bought some no names DVD-Rs at a computer show and they worked ok, 30% failure rate, burning Data DVDs.
I bought some TDK's that were x2's and the drive doesn't even spin to recognize its in there.
Returned them for some Sony DVDs and they failed also (I've only tried 2 of the 10 pack so far and both failed)
Is it a software issue or a blank disk issue?
I don't want to spend the money for Nero 6 yet until I find out if it is software. I just want to back up my HD for now, so no need for movie DVDs.
Does anyone know if I can use the Nero 5 that came w/ my TDK internal burner on this DVD-R drive?
Which software do you recommend for this drive? I bought the $19 Total Burn Platinum from Broderbund and that didn't recognize I had a valid drive.
I tried to look at Toshiba's site for firmware to no avail. Any ideas?
thanks for any help!
